What you should know before and after your treatments at Dermamode :

Before and After Treatment Care

Dermamode garanties a safe treatment with great results. However, with every treatment there are a few tips we suggest as well as some guidelines to ensure you get the results you are looking for.

Laser Information

Before your treatments:

  • Avoid tanning beds, sun or self tanning creams on the area to be treated 4 weeks before your first treatments until your final treatment.
  • Avoid wearing tight clothing after the treatment to prevent chafing of the treated area.
  • Stop all hair removal methods, for instance waxing, on the area to be treated 4 weeks prior to treatment. Only shaving before and in between treatments if needed.
  • Avoid all perfumed creams or exfoliation the day of the treatment, this includes deodorant.

After your treatment :

  • Avoid using hydrating creams 24 hours after treatment.
  • Do not expose yourself to extreme heat, for instance sauna, whirlpool or hot bath for 24 hours after the treatment.
  • Avoid exercise for 24 hours after the treatment.
  • If needed apply a cold compress to the treated area followed by aloe lotion.

Remember to :

  • Shave 12024 hours prior to the treatment.
  • We offer a shaving service for a small fee; if needed please inform us in advance so we can book extra time for your treatment. Otherwise, the area to be treated must be completely shaved before coming in for your appointment ( a small fee may apply if we need to shave you)
  • Tell the technician if your health has changed or if you are on new medications prior to and/or after the treatment.
  • The anesthetic crem β€œMaxilene” is recommended if you are very sensitive. You can also take Advil 30 minutes before the treatment if needed.
  • Cover the area to be treated with sunscreen (SPF 45) if that area will be exposed to the sun.
  • Feel free to contact us for any questions following your treatment.

Microdermabrasion Information

Things to avoid :

  • One week before and one week after your treatment, avoid using any products containing salicylic acid, glycol acid, retinol-A, AHA, Cortisone or Vitamin A.
  • Avoid direct exposure to the sun before and after your treatment.
  • Do not schedule your treatment during a time when you have an acne or cold sore out break.

Things to remember :

  • We recommend removing your contacts before the treatments.
  • Use sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) for 7 days following your treatment. If you plan on staying out all day after your treatment, do not forget to bring extra sunscreen.
  • Have a shower following your treatment to remove any excess residue.
  • Avoid wearing makeup 24 hours after the treatment, if that is not possible make sure to clean properly.
  • Thermocoagulation Information (Vasculyse).

Things to avoid :

  • Avoid touching the treated area.
  • Avoid taking aspirin or any anti-inflammatory (vascular dilation)
  • Avoid using saunas or whirlpools
  • Do not expose the treated area to direct sunlight for 48 hours.
  • Do not remove any scabbing on your own.
  • No physical activity for 48 hours after the treatment, this can cause vasodilation

Things to remember :

  • Allow skin to heal on it’s own.
  • Use a minimum 30 SPF sunscreen on the area treated.
  • Apply a cold compress to the area treated if necessary.
